NEW DELHI – more than 25 million people have since last month applied for a job at the Indian railways, the largest employer of the country. Most job seekers wait to be a disappointment: there are ’only’ around 90 000 jobs.
India is famous for overcrowded trains.
The railways have tens of thousands of job openings for technicians and spoorinspecteurs. The past few years is not an active search for new employees, said the chairman of the executive board of the railways. “That’s why we need people.”
The railways published last month ads to point to the available jobs. Since then, according to the chairman more than 25 million people reported using the internet. Currently working all around 1.3 million people for the state-owned company, that is working with a billions costing plan for infrastructure modernisation.
