Marijke Vandebuerie new general director of Film Fest Gent

The board of directors of Film Fest Gent sets Marijke Vandebuerie as director of the film festival. Vandebuerie leave the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF), and since 2013 as a business leader. They follow Martijn Ball, which at the end of last year, the film festival left.

Marijke Vandebuerie was since 2013 business manager at the VAF. “It is with a heavy heart that I ADD leaves but at Film Fest Gent is much of what I have in the past have done together,” says Vandebuerie about her appointment.

Vandebuerie was in 1987 co-founder of the Ghent music club Democrazy. Afterwards, she went to Brussels, where she successively general director at Beursschouwburg (1997-2002) and Brussels This Week (2002-2013).

The 45th Film Fest Gent runs from 9 October to 19 October at Kinepolis Gent, Studio Skoop, Sphinx, Forward and KASKcinema.
