Coach Bert van Marwijk of Australia found that his team Tuesday in the practice game against Colombia (0-0) is clearly better played on Friday against Norway (4-1 loss).
“We know that Colombia is one of the best teams in the world,” said Van Marwijk after the end of the duel in London. “We saw them Friday and against France with a 3-2 win, then you are a good team. I think we will have a good plan to have played. This is the beginning of how we ultimately want to go play at the world cup.”
That Australia in London better for the day came against Norway, had, according to the Dutch coach to do with the preparation.
“For the duel with the Norwegians, we have only one normal training. Now we know each other for a few days longer and we have more trained. The players start to understand better how we want to play.”
Van Marwijk stressed that the game still needs to improve for the world CHAMPIONSHIPS next summer in Russia. “This is in any case a good start. In the first half, you saw that we played in a way that is good for the players and for me as a coach.”
The former coach of Orange was glad that the debutant keeper Danny Vukovic, who is in the peace Feyenoord-goalkeeper Brad Jones replaced, in the second half a penalty stopped.
“We have the last days on penalty’s trained. I said just told him that he could kick and jam intentionally had caused,” said Van Marwijk.
