On the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the death of singer Jacques Brel, will imitator Filip Jordens on 12 and 13 may at Vorst Nationaal, a large-scale hommageconcert bring to Him. Jordens is supported by the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra and authentic archival footage of Brel. The project was announced today with a mini-concert presented in the Brussels volkscafé The Goudblommeke in papier.
Under the heading of “Je m’appelle Jacques Brel” will Jordens two concerts that pay tribute to the musical talent of Jacques Brel. On the stage will give the Brel imitator during the nineteen selected songs the symphonic support of his hard musicians of the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra. Both the big hits of Brel, as well as the hidden pearls will be discussed.
“The music is for me the basis for the universe of Brel to reflect. We don’t want a linear story to tell. What we are going to show, Brel breathe and that is very important,” singer-impersonator Filip Jordens.
Through reflections on different layers of cloth is the homage under the guidance of director Dirk Decloedt also a visual spectacle. Between the songs by an appeal to authentic archival footage of, among others, interviews with Brel.
“We do not want a documentary show, but go for renewal,” says Decloedt. “With the image, and the orchestra, we have two dimensions to add to the strength of the works of Brel.”
