Jan van Halst had to say that quite a lot of difficulty with the dismissal of Gertjan Verbeek at FC Twente. The 55-year-old coach was Monday afternoon has been suspended by the Enschedese club.
“We have only one goal in the coming period. That is enforcement,” says Van Halst on the website of FC Twente. “That means, first of all, get away with the bottom spot. We see that the turnaround is not forthcoming. This is critical and firmly spoken with each other with as approach to be here together.”
Verbeek replaced at the end of October, the dismissed trainer Rene Hake, but since then only one league game to win. By the meager results is FC Twente currently hekkensluiter in the Premier league.
Van Halst, former player of FC Twente and Ajax, found it a difficult decision for the coach to dismiss. “Although we always hope that we the tide could return there this weekend a lot of new information come to us, also through the supervisory board.”
“That made it clear that the support to fragile and that we can unfortunately not next to us”, continued Van Halst. “The short-term results is now sacred and that means that we say goodbye to Gertjan Verbeek. How difficult, especially on a human level. Above all, now has the first team.”
Also the role of Van Halst when the club is adjusted. The 48-year-old technical director continues as a commercial director. Erik Velderman take immediately the task of general director, while FC Twente are looking for a new technical director.
“The reason that Gertjan is also the role of technical manager held was that Jan himself was going to focus on commerce. That track we now express check-in by Jan completely free for commercial business,” explains Velderman.
FC Twente, one point less than number seventeen Roda JC, will play Sunday against VVV-Venlo. Last week was not played in the Premier league due to international matches.
