Robert Maaskant will be working as technical director at Almere City FC. Schiedam signed on Saturday a contract until the summer of 2020 at the Jupiler League club, and begins immediately to his new job.
“I am pleasantly surprised by the ambition and freshness of this club,” says Maaskant on the website of Almere City. “From the conversations with general manager John Berry, it is evident that we have much in common.”
Almere City in the Jupiler League back in the middle of the table. The Regional club occupied after thirty matches, the twelfth place in the rankings.
“This club is very innovative, which fits with the core values young, cocky and ambitious,” says Maaskant. “I’ve also always an innovative take on football and I know how it is to be with a small club to promote. That connect well with each other.”
Go Ahead Eagles was the last club where the 49-year-old coach was employed. He was, in march last year appointed as coach of the Deventenaren, but succeeded not in to the club for relegation from the Premier league to protect.
In the Netherlands Maaskant previously coach of RBC Roosendaal, Willem II, MVV, NAC Breda and FC Groningen. Abroad he had the Polish Wisla Krakow, the belarusian Dinamo Minsk and the American Columbus Crew under his wing. With Wisla Krakow he won in 2011 the national title.
Bes is delighted to announce the arrival of Maaskant as the new technical director. “In our role as ‘challenger’ is to think differently and do a condition, which fits perfectly with the vision of Robert,” says the general manager of Almere City.
“He stands for innovation in football and has previously show no effort to have his ideas to bear,” continues Berry. “It also has Robert as a trainer, all experienced, where our trainers for their benefit.”
