The White House has Friday a new policy announced that the majority of transgender exclude yourself from a job in the U.s. army.
“The minister of Defense has determined that transgender people who make a substantial medical need of treatment, such as medication and surgery, but only under limited circumstances, be eligible for military service,” says the spokesperson of the White House in a press release.
The measure comes after secretary of defense James Mattis and secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen had concluded that people with a history or diagnosis of gender dysphoria ‘a significant risk in respect of military efficiency’.
President Donald Trump will review the memorandum that he was in August last year, signed and transgender exclude yourself from a job in the army. The measure was legally challenged.
The president said that more studies were needed to ensure that transgender military efficiency would not be in danger. Trump runs as the policy of his predecessor, Barack Obama back that transgenders are allowed to openly enter the service.
