Jens Keukeleire (Lotto Soudal) has not yet got rid of his worries. The West-Flemish troubles with his health and is with a course of antibiotics started.
Keukeleire would be normal Friday start in the E3 Harelbeke, but because of illness was to him, deserved rest. Wednesday, already in the Three-day Bruges-De Panne touched he could barely move forward, also Thursday he felt not the best. “Jens will feel totally not good. He is tired, sick, tired, beginning, perhaps, of a cold”, says spokesman Arne Houtekier of Lotto Soudal. “He has not been the best night behind the back and feels today (Friday) is still not well.”
Thursday was a blood sample taken. “The rash is not of such a nature as to immediate participation in Gent-Wevelgem to close”, says Houtekier. “So we are waiting a bit with a decision on that rate. He is with a course of antibiotics started, and we follow his situation closely. A decision about participation in Gent-Wevelgem is in the course of Saturday. It makes no sense to move forward on the issues.”
Keukeleire was last year, second in Ghent-Wevelgem, after winner Greg Van Avermaet in the sprint vloerde.
