The netherlands celebrates Lloyd Webber-years with four shows

The famous British composer Andrew Lloyd Webber is celebrating his seventieth birthday. Musicalfans all over the world dwell on the birthday of the man behind iconic shows like The Phantom of The Opera and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and his latest hit School of Rock.

In the Netherlands, the Lloyd Webber-years but less than four productions of his hand. It is unprecedented that in one calendar year as many pieces of the British artist in the theatres were. Three of the productions are also spoken in English.

In the Carré theatre from 28 march until 8 april the British tourversie of Sunset Boulevard. The award-winning show tells of an actress who’s big hit was in the time of silent film and attempting a comeback in the fifties. In AFAS Live plays at the end of march, Jesus Christ Superstar, the musical by Webber about the passion of Jesus Christ. In this production the role is played by Ted Neeley, the man who has this role already in the seventies took.

Evita

The only English version in the list is Evita. In the new version of the piece on the Argentine First Lady plays actress Brigitte Heitzer the leading role; the male protagonists, René van Kooten and Marijn Brouwers. Evita is from mid-October through the whole country to see.

The Lloyd Webber-the year is concluded with Cats. The original British version of his most successful musical ever in december and January to see in the RAI Theatre in Amsterdam and the Nieuwe Luxor in Rotterdam.
