The western Brimstone of the Dutch film director Martin Koolhoven has been nominated for a Saturn Award, a major award for genre films. His latest film, where it in the category of best independent film, made the organization Thursday known. The Dutch make-up Arjen Spouts, previously an Oscar nomination received, is nominated in the category of best makeup for his work on the drama Miracle.
The prize is awarded annually by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films. The figurine in the price has the form of the planet Saturn, where the rings film.
Brimstone, about a demonic priest (Guy Pearce) who is an innocent girl has wanted to, has already won several prizes. The thriller won the record of six Golden Calves in the wait and was nominated in London and Venice. Also won the movie of Koolhoven a European Film Award and the prize of the Circle of Dutch Filmjournalisten.
“No director makes his movies for the prices”, says Koolhoven in a comment. “But I can’t deny that I find this nomination very nice find. The Saturn Awards are awards for genre films, where I have the most affinity.”
The Saturn Awards this year for the 44th time awarded. It is not the first time that a Dutchman is nominated; ten years ago, Paul Verhoeven chance of winning the prize with his oorlogsthriller black book.
The biggest contenders at the Saturn Awards this year are Black Panther, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Blade Runner, 2049 and The Shape of Water, the big “oscar” Italian this year. The winners will be in June published.
