The introduction of the videoscheidsrechter in the Eredivise will ensure that heated discussions about arbitration decisions are a thing of the past, but the KNVB hopes that the tool puts an end to crucial errors.
“The fans will make decisions always with a certain pair of glasses to review,” says Mike van der Roest, project manager Video Assistant Referee at the KNVB.
“Errors will always remain, it will never succeed to set everything perfectly to get. But when the crucial decisions about whether or not a goal or a red card may soon be no more wrong.”
The past couple of seasons at Dutch cup matches, already experimented with the videoscheidsrechter. Monday, it was announced that the special arbitrator, who was behind tv screens follow the contest, this coming season for all matches in the Eredivisie is entered.
The videoscheidsrechter can only intervene in ‘grave and clear errors’ or ‘missed serious incidents’. So, for example, can be used to check whether the ball is over the line is and whether or not there is a penalty kick.
Van der Roest, realize that people to the new situation will have to get used to. “There is now, for example, called the videoscheidsrechter had to intervene when a certain yellow card or a corner kick. But about that kind of moments he can not judge.”
“There is an important task for the coming time when the public at large. We will like mantra to keep repeating.”
