Technical director Jan van Halst of FC Twente has once again squarely behind coach Gertjan Verbeek of colleagues. He thinks the coach is still the right man for the embattled club in the Premier league.

The former professional sets in conversation with RTV Oost that he and the coach until the end continue to doorknokken to the champion of 2010 from degradation. Twente last, after the victory of Roda JC at NAC Breda (0-1).

“We continue to be in it, I’m really convinced,” says Van Halst Monday against the regional broadcaster. “To the left or right, because if you don’t believe you can stop.”

Verbeek was the right man for that, according to the technical director. “We still have the idea that it ultimately will succeed, but also that guarantees you have not.”

The local newspaper Tubantia reported on Monday that the rumours increase that assistant coach Marino Pusic, the duties of Verbeek this season takes over, but Van Halst laughs that suggestion away. “Rumors, you can’t get on with him. This course we have used, and after the season we are going to evaluate.”

The former midfielder of Twente, FC Utrecht and Ajax experienced on a personal level, a nasty Saturday. He had during the duel with Willem II (2-2) under the guidance of the stadium to leave because of an aggressive atmosphere.

Nevertheless mulls Van Halst not about to stop. “When I get home the word stop all to call then they begin already to declare: Under no circumstances, you go by! They are at home even stronger than me almost.”

If Twente unexpectedly degrade, that can sometimes have far-reaching consequences. Although Van Halst not out of a bankruptcy. There are now a lot of discussions. Crucial, of course, is that everyone in the club and continue to support. We are for the long term engaged to the club above water.”

FC Twente plays on a small two weeks against VVV-Venlo. This week is not played in the Premier league due to international matches.
