ANKARA – The Turkish police in the capital Ankara, nearly one and a half pounds of the radioactive element californium-252 seized. That has the news channel NTV on Monday reported. There are four persons arrested. They would be the nuclear material to sell for 70 million dollars. Where it comes from and who’s interest had is still unclear.

Californium was in the fifties for the first synthetically produced in the United States. Nowadays it is also produced in Russia. It is used for the triggering of nuclear reactors.
