In an accident with a self-propelled car of the taxi app Uber in the United States is Sunday evening a woman to the life. It is probably the first fatal accident with a robotwagen and a pedestrian. Uber has all the tests with self-propelled vehicles suspended.
The accident took place in Tempe, a city in the southwestern state of Arizona. The autonomous vehicle drove a voetgangster to which the road crossed. She died of her injuries.
Uber cooperates with the investigation into the cause of the accident. “Incredibly sad news,” wrote Uber ceo Dara Khosrowshahi on the microblogsite Twitter.
Uber is one of dozens of companies that have their own systems for self-propelled vehicles to develop and test in the USA. One of the arguments for such robotwagens is that the vast majority of the road accidents are due to human error. At the same time, the sector aware that even with self-propelled cars of fatal accidents cannot be totally eliminated.
