‘The Last Face’ plays out in the African war zones in Liberia, South Sudan and Sierra Leone. The two main characters, played by Charlize Theron and Javier Bardem, working for various aid organizations. Wren Petersen (Theron) is a South African doctor from a wealthy background who is at the head of an international aid agency. During a mission in Liberia, she meets the passionate Spanish trauma-doctor Miguel Leon (Bardem), and they are madly in love with each other. Both Wren as Miguel go to the extreme for their mission, but it soon becomes apparent that they fundamentally disagree about how the conflict around them needs to be addressed …

‘The Last Face’ by director Sean Penn was in 2016, selected for the Cannes Festival, but was not there in the prices. In addition to Charlize Theron and Javier Bardem, you see, among others, that Adèle Exarchopoulos and Jean Reno.
