BRUSSELS – The EU has an agreement in principle with the United Kingdom reached about a transition period after the British departure on 29 march 2019. The British continue until January 1, 2021 are part of the customs union and the internal market. In that period, EU citizens can freely continue to settle in Britain. For the border between Ireland and (British) Northern Ireland after the brexit both remain parties to seek a solution.
That are Brussels and London, after feverish negotiations in Brussels agreed. During the transitional period, keep the British involved in the decision-making on the European quotas, but they have no control over new or modifications in the EU legislation.
According to EU’s chief negotiator, Michel Barnier is in agreement, that on Friday the EU leaders referred to it, ,,a decisive step in the negotiations on a orderlijk British exit”.
