Milan-Sanremo is still fresh in the memory, but the platoon moved in the meantime to continue. Monday was the start of the 98th edition of the Tour of Catalonia with a flat stage around Calella. That was a prey for José Álvaro Hodeg, the Colombian of Quick-Step Floors.

Won last year Alejandro Valverde in the Volta a Catalunya for Alberto Contador and Marc Soler. The Spaniard is also going this time for the gold. Its competitors include Nairo Quintana, Daniel Martin, Fabio Aru, Simon Yates, Adam Yates, Sergio Henao, Steven Kruijswijk, Bob Jungels, Tejay van Garderen, Louis Meintjes, Warren Barguil and Thibaut Pinot.

The gc group performed during the first stage, however, is not on the foreground of the image. The stage was, namely, one for the fast men. The breakaway of the day consisted of six riders: Tom Bohli (BMC), Andrey Grivko (Astana), Jesús Ezquerra (Burgos-BH), Markel Irizar (Trek-Segafredo), Daniel Turek (Israel Cycling Academy) and Antonio Molina (Caja Rural).

The six were, however, never lead to them somewhat could do dreams of the dagzege. In the peloton especially loved the Cofidis and Bora the pace tight. They had their sights set on the win with their fast man, respectively, Nacer Bouhanni and Sam Bennett.
