MOSCOW – A day before the presidential election, the Russian police Saturday in several cities launched raids in the offices of the opposition movement of Alexei Navalni and other opposition parties.

In the raids is an unknown number of people were arrested. In St. Petersburg were a number of young members of the party of Navalni arrested. They had announced the name of their leader as an observer to act in the elections.

Navalni cried at the end of January for a boycott of the vote. He may not participate in the presidential election because he has a criminal record after a dubious conviction for fraud. The election is according to him a punched out card.

It is expected that current president Vladimir Putin with a large majority re-elected.
