The Russian Daria Kasatkina (WTA 19) and Japan’s Naomi Osaka (WTA 44) are the finalists of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells (8.648.508 dollar).
Kasatkina defeated Friday night (local time) in the first semifinal American Venus Williams (WTA 8) with 4-6, 6-4 and 7-5. Subsequently humiliated Osaka on the California hard court, the Romanian number 1 of the world Simona Halep 6-3, 6-0.
Daria Kasatkina, who is coached by Philippe Dehaes, for the fourth time in a WTA final. In april of last year, she won the graveltoernooi of Charleston. Two times came as a runner-up, last month in Dubai (against Elina Svitolina) and in October 2017 in Moscow (against Julia Görges).
Naomi Osaka plays its second final on the WTA Tour. In september 2016, she lost at the tournament of Tokyo in the final battle of Caroline Wozniacki. The Japanese is the first player since Kim Clijsters in 2005 as a non-seed to the final in Indian Wells kicks. Clijsters picked up when the title (against Lindsay Davenport).
Kasatkina and Osaka are both 20 years old. It is their first mutual duel. The winner will follow on the roll of honour of the Russian Elena Vesnina.
