The videoscheidsrechter will debut already next summer at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS in Russia. The board of directors of the wereldvoetbalbond FIFA has on Friday during a meeting in Bogota agreed with the use of videoarbitrage at the global finals.
This is reported by the German back Reinhard Grindel, who on behalf of the European football body, in the so-called cuncil of the FIFA, via Twitter.
The international spelregelcommissie IFAB had two weeks ago, the road has been cleared for the use of videoarbitrage at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Tests have shown that thanks to the help of arbitrators behind tv screens, the number of correct decisions of the referee on the field increases from 93 to 99 percent.
The IFAB, which decides the rules, gave the beginning of this month leagues and leagues the green light to permanent use of the video system. The past few years is a lot of tested.
The Dutch football association KNVB gold along as a pioneer in the field of videoarbitrage. In the tournament for the KNVB-cup is in there for a while. The (high) costs are the introduction in the Premier league yet in the way. In the German and Italian league is the videoscheidsrechter already fully deployed.
The FIFA tested there last year in the tournament for the Confederations Cup. The system turned out as not entirely error-free, and led sometimes to confusion and long interruptions of a match.
“Videoscheidrechters are the future of our sport. I’m a big proponent of the use of technical aids in football,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino mentioned earlier.
