Vivianne Miedema has Arsenal on Wednesday night in the Continental Tyres Cup (the League Cup for vrouwenteams) helped. The ‘Gunners’ won at Adams Park with a 1-0 to Manchester City.
Miedema signed after a little more than half an hour for the only hit of the contest. The 21-year-old striker, who last year made the switch from Bayern Munich to Arsenal, shot after a beautiful assumption of close within.
For the London-based team is already the fifth bekerzege in seven editions of the Continental Tyres Cup. Earlier, the tournament was in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015 won. Four years ago it was Manchester City with 1-0 too strong in the final.
In addition to Miedema, who a quarter of an hour for the time the side was reached, were Orange-internationals Sari van Veenendaal, Daniëlle van de Donk and Dominique Janssen of the kick-off.
Opportunities
Miedema was euphoric after the win of the cup. “We have done a great job against a very strong team”, says the Dutch on the site of Arsenal.
“I knew that I did not have much opportunity would get, so it was very important that the first opportunity would go. This is a really good achievement from us.”
By the victory in the final gave Arsenal City was only the second defeat since may of 2017.
