The KNVB has responded to the disappointment of Wesley Sneijder that he will not during the training duels the Netherlands, England or Portugal – Netherlands bid farewell to take of the Orange fans.
“In consultation with Wesley Sneijder we will provide a beautiful farewell. That he deserves, there is everyone agrees. How that exactly will look like is still not to say”, said the KNVB on Twitter. “Internally, we are working on it to ensure that we are in a very honorable way of saying goodbye to our record international, as we in an earlier stage, have already indicated to do for all of our great players.”
Sneijder decided recently interlandcarrière to terminate after a conversation with the new coach Ronald Koeman. The record international (133 matches) would have liked to say goodbye in a way such as Arjen Robben, who after the world cup-kwalificatieduel with Sweden was waved off. “It’s not about me, it’s important that I put together with the fans a moment to say goodbye.
