Brad Jones is Wednesday included in the final selection of national coach Bert van Marwijk. The goalkeeper of the Team for the first time since 2014 is again national football team play for Australia.
Van Marwijk has 26 players invited for the training duels with Norway (23 march) and Colombia (27 march). With Andrew Nabbout (Urawa Red Diamonds), Dimitri Petratos (Newcastle Jets), Aleksandar Susnjar (Mlada Boleslav) and goalkeeper Andrew Vukovic (Racing Genk) called the Dutch coach four debutants.
The 35-year-old Jones played four international matches for Australia. Since the summer of 2016, he has a move to Feyenoord. Before he came out for NEC, Middlesbrough and Liverpool. The latter club, he was primarily reservedoelman.
Also midfielder Josh Brillante (Sydney FC) and defender James Meredith (Millwall) after a years absence back in the national team. The 38-year-old Tim Cahill, who with fifty goals in 104 club’s top scorer of all time is from Australia, belongs under Van Marwijk also to the selection.
“I look forward to for the first time with the players to train,” said Van Marwijk, who in February was appointed as the successor of the opgestapte Ante Postecoglou. “We need to get the most out of this training camp from two weeks to pick, because omze time direction the world cup is limited.”
“Our practice matches against Norway and Colombia will be very important. But I want to be with all the players and staff focus and commitment from the first to the last day of the training camp.”
