Referees that are interested in starting next season under a semi-professional contract work at the Royal Belgian Football association (belgian football association), have until Friday 16 march to their application to serve by Johan Verbist. That confirmed the scheidsrechtersbaas Monday at a press conference in Tubize.
Since 1 July 2017, the Belgian professional football eight semi-professional referees richer. Sébastien Delferière, Bart Vertenten, Alexandre Boucaut, Jonathan Lardot, Erik Lambert, Lawrence Visser, Nathan Verboomen and Bram Van Driessche signed with the belgian football association have a contract for at least two seasons.
As previously agreed there will in the coming season, two new semiprofs free. At the request of Johan Verbist pulled the Pro League a budget of 75,000 euros. From 1 July 2019 would be the scheidsrechtersbaas like twelve semiprofs in service.
Verbist explains that the semiprofs better odds for their matches than the non-pros. According to him, it is mainly the young, talented refs who have the most to learn. Verbist calls Bram Van Driessche, who for the first semi-final of the Cup of Belgium whistled, as an example.
Last year, in a total of fifteen referees as a candidate for the semiprofstatuut, seven among them got a negative response. Verbist expected that the interest will be great. “After march 16, we will again be a consideration.”
