MEXICO CITY – The explosion last month on a Mexican ferry a few dozen people injured, was not a terrorist act. Also organized crime wasn’t behind. That the ministry of Justice on Sunday announced. It wouldn’t matter about possible suspects.
The explosion on the ferry which docked in the port of Playa del Carmen was caused by a home in each other-made bomb. That a criminal or terrorist organization responsible for the attack, is excluded. At least 25 people, among them Americans, were injured. Tourism is very important in the region, with places like Playa del Carmen, Cozumel island and Cancun, was also badly affected.
The boat was operated by a shipping company, which according to the local media is owned by the family of Roberto Borge, the former governor of the state of Quintana Roo on the Yucatán peninsula. He is suspected of corruption and is since his extradition by Panama in January.
