Lightning are at least sixteen deaths in a church of the seventh-day adventist church in the south of Rwanda. That says the local mayor Habitegeko Francois.
According to Habitegeko Francois were fourteen people killed. Two others died later of their injuries.
A further 140 people to the hospital and health centres. Doctors say that three people in critical condition were. Their situation would in the meantime have improved.
The majority of the wounded should all return home.
The lightning struck at around Saturday afternoon when believers of the village Gihemvu, near the border with Burundi, a church service attended.
According to the mayor, there was a Friday in the same area, a similar incident. The lightning struck when a group of students, one of them survived.
