The couple was shot to death. Madaric declares that he “cannot tolerate” that a journalist during his term of office, is murdered.
The 27-year-old Kuciak was an investigative journalist at the Slovak Aktuality.sk and investigated tax evasion by businessmen who have close ties with the ruling party. According to the police, it is plausible that the couple was murdered because of the research of the journalist.
Prime minister Fico has a reward of 1 million euro prize for the golden tip, but critics and members of the opposition claim that his own party may be involved in the murder. One of his advisors mentioned in an article of Kuciak about ties with the Italian mafia.
