Danish cyclist was suddenly woke up in the hospital with a broken jaw and concussion

The Danish cyclist Simon Andreassen, mainly specialised in cyclo-cross and mountain biking, was on Wednesday suddenly woke up in the hospital. “I have no idea how I’ve ended up in, I know nothing more”, he leaves on his Instagram know. The Dane has a broken jaw, a concussion and some scrapes and bumps.

Andreassen is considered as a promising rider. He was in the youth two times European and world champion mountain bike. The Dane was also once world champion cyclo-cross for the youth in 2015 for our compatriot Eli Iserbyt.

On his Instragram he thanks everyone for the sweet messages, also those who took care of him and helped him, he wants to thank. Further, he also says this: “Today did not go as planned. Suddenly I woke up in the hospital and I had a lot of pain. I have no idea how I’ve ended up. It is a strange feeling for such a long time unconscious and a total of nothing more to know. I have a broken jaw, a concussion and some scrapes and bumps, but I’ve been really lucky.”

He also raises on to never only mountain bike trails to ride, and always wear a helmet. “That saved my life today.”

First of all, thanks so much for all the child messages, I really appreciate it! Today did not go as planned. Suddenly I woke up in the hospital, in a lot of pain. No idea how I got there what so ever. It’s a strange feeling to be unconscious by for so long, and get total memory loss. Went through the X-rays, and a fractured cheekbone, a big daiquiri, and being bruised up everywhere is tasks as being really lucky in this situation. I wanna thank everyone who took care of me today, and helped me through this. You guys saved me big time. Never ride trails alone, and always use a helmet, it saved my life today
