After a disappointing Flemish opening weekend draws Greg Van Avermaet coming Saturday to Tuscany for the Strade Bianche. The Italian grindklassieker is the BMC team leader. After two second places in 2015 and 2017, in hopes Of Soaking in Siena finally got on the highest spot to stand.
“The Strade Bianche is a fair game”, put out Of the Team from the shore. “It is one of my favorite races each year, I look again. I hope that the weather conditions are bad. Cold and rain is not really my cup of tea. We’ll see how it goes. I’m definitely again motivated to make something of it. Last year I was second, hopefully I can this year to win.”
Also sports director Valerio Piva is expected Of the Team again at the front at the finish in the Piazza del Campo in Siena. “Greg was there a few times there in the Strade Bianche. I know that he is in good form and he will get a strong team. I expect Alberto Bettiol – for whom it is almost a home race – Damiano Caruso and Stefan Küng in the final along with Greg at the front. Top performance should be sure in it.”
In addition to Van Avermaet issues BMC with Loïc Fly even a second compatriot in Tuscany.
