FC Volendam-captain Kees Kwakman turn due to persistent injuries immediately to a point behind his career.

The 34-year-old midfielder has, in consultation with the club decided his contract to deliver, and given a different role, log FC Volendam on Tuesday.

“Last season, I almost played everything and so I started this season in good spirits, but literally from day one, is the fret”, says Kwakman.

“For a few weeks I notice now that I’m on trainings and in matches physically and mentally can’t bring what I would want and what would, should, as captain of Volendam. Your hopes still to improve, but unfortunately it was the bad match of last Friday for me the confirmation that the improvement never comes.”

Kwakman played Friday against Telstar (5-2 loss) are 130th and so last game for Volendam. He came in that 130 duels to 22 goals.


Kwakman, in total up to 144 matches in the Eredivisie and 99 duels in the Jupiler League was and is working as an analyst for FOX Sports, is grateful for his career.

“There are countless anecdotes, memories and adventures, both for me and my family. I am fifteen years, a privileged man. It was great, more than I ever dreamed of, but everything comes to an end,” he says.

The career of Kwakman started in 2004, Volendam, after which he worked for RBC Roosendaal, NAC Breda, FC Augsburg, FC Groningen, back NAC Breda and the South African Bidvest Wits played. In the summer of 2015, he returned in Volendam.
