BRATISLAVA – A Slovak journalist last weekend in his home shot to death. Also, his fiancee was murdered in their house in Velka Maca, 65 kilometers east of the capital Bratislava.
The 27-year-old Ján Kuciak was an investigative journalist at the Slovak Aktuality.sk. He examined tax evasion by businessmen who have close ties with the ruling party. According to the police, it is plausible that the couple was murdered because of the research of the journalist.
