Gloria and Emilio Estefan Thursday evening by several major hollywood stars and musicians honored for their work during the annual Lo Nuestro Awards, an award show for the best Latin-American music.
“They have ensured that nobody will ever forget where Cuban music is all about,” said the famous music producer Quincy Jones on the musical contributions of the sixty-year old singer and her husband, who were both born in Cuba. Also singer Shakira, who in the beginning of her music career is helped by the two, was full of praise. “They are a tremendous support. Not only for my career, but also for that of so many artists. Emilio’s ideas and Gloria’s inimitable talent, give them something magical.”
Gloria and Emilio, who recently worked the Broadway musical, On Your Feet were making about their lives, entered after the stage to thank everyone. “The tribute means a lot to me,” spoke Gloria with emotion. “I dedicate this to my mother, that I on the 13th of June lost, because they taught me that we force out of our own roots.”
