BARCELONA – The percentage of Catalans that are in favour of separation from Spain, strongly decreases according to opiniepeilers of the Catalan government. The Catalan Centre of Opiniestudies (CEO) says that now 40.8% of the respondents believe independence will and 53,9 per cent in Spain want to remain.
At the beginning of the current political crisis was 48,7% in favour of independence. The crisis erupted in early October los as a result of the illegal and chaotic attempt by the then Catalan regioregering to the region loose from Spain. That government was deposed and the region is now by the central government in Madrid controlled.
