Actress Olivia Wilde is going to be a high school comedy directing. It is her debut as a film director. The film, Booksmart, is a comedy about two college students and best friends who have a mission to, as much as possible fun to have just before their graduation, when they realize that they had less need to study and more should have parties.

Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever are cast in the leading roles. The script is by Emily Halpern and Sarah Haskins. The film is made for Annapurna Pictures and Gloria Sanchez, the vrouwentak of Gary Sanchez Productions. Co-producers are Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.

Olivia brought the news on Instagram by a photo of a director’s chair. From the message she was very happy with the project. She wrote that great story, that is also hilarious. A release date is not yet known.

Olivia directed an adaptation of earlier music videos for the Red Hot Chili Peppers and made the short film Free Hugs and No Love Like Yours.
