Loena Hendrickx surprised last month with a handsome fifth place at the european CHAMPIONSHIPS figure skating. This week, the eighteen-year-old talent a new chance for her to show at the winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. “The confidence is good, training is expiration to desire. I hope here is a nice performance to put down,” she says two days before her competitiedebuut.

Loena Hendrickx is since april last year, certainly an olympic ticket. That she earned by her debut at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS, which took place in Helsinki, immediately fifteenth. Her older brother Jorik was on that WK until 21st and had until the end of september to wait before he, after a win at the Nebelhorn Trophy, certainty acquired.
“It was a reassurance that I have all of my qualification in the bag,” says Loena Hendrickx. “So I could fully focus on the preparation for Pyeongchang. I didn’t have the stress that my brother knew in the summer.”
Nevertheless, Loena not flawless preparation behind the back. “I have a time trouble with a knee injury,” she explains. “I had a blister on the cartilage behind my kneecap. I have a number of contests to be missed, but thankfully I’m just in time to be fully fit.”

Loena Hendrickx hopes in South Korea as well to do as at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS. We need them Wednesday in the Gangneung Ice Arena, first of all, when the top 24 from the short freestyle to end. That Loena Hendrickx on her eighteenth, as one of the youngest members of Team Belgium at the Olympic Winter games can participate in, calls them “a wonderful dream come true”. “I hope that this won’t be my last Play and I then have a time can go.”
Carine Herrygers, coach of Loena, hoping that her pupil the this week “we do” as at the european CHAMPIONSHIPS. “But of course, a mistake is quickly made”, she says. “But she is in good shape, the jumps go easy, technically it is very good. I do think that a nice place can achieve.”
