FC Twente coach Gertjan Verbeek takes a lot of confidence out of the draw in the degradatiekraker against Sparta Rotterdam, also prevented his team Sunday just before time, a defeat in their own home. The coach thinks that the Tukkers are ready for the crucial series in the Eredivisie.
“This point is more than justified. I think we were in the first half well played and a lot of opportunities created, so I was actually quite satisfied,” said Verbeek in the Grolsch Veste in conversation with FOX Sports.
Twente was in the first half a lot better than Sparta, but it was the visitors who soon after resting on lead came via Fred Friday. Thanks to a goal from Haris Vuckic in the 85th minute kept Twente, a defeat and thus the last place in the Premier league can be saved.
The Tukkers take next week FC Utrecht and will play successively against FC Groningen (home), Heracles Almelo (off), Willem II (home), and VVV-Venlo (off), four teams like Twente in the rechterrijtje camp.
Verbeek acknowledges that his squad, which at Sparta for the eighth duel in a row without victory remained, a crucial series of wait. “It is important that we in those duels points. We have a very difficult period, but this contest offers a handhold. This level, we need to hold on to and improve.”
