Actress Sylvia Hoeks will play the leading role in a film about the life of the Dutch actress Sylvia Kristel. Kristel, who became world-famous with her role in Emmanuelle, died in October 2012 at the age of sixty to the effects of cancer.
The film about the life of Sylvia Kristel has, according to Variety yet no title. The director is Michael J. Roskam, known from the movie Bullhead. The movies are in France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Los Angeles. The scenario is written by Dimitri Verhulst, author of De helaasheid der dingen.
The film focuses on Kristels iconic career in the seventies and eighties, when the huge success of the Emmanuelle films in stark contrast with her personal life. Hoeks: “Sylvia was one of the women is a sexual way of looking at sex for women opened. She was also very feisty, perhaps even early in that respect for her generation. Her intelligence and creativity as an artist made her difficult to grasp. It was hard to understand who she was.”
Sylvia Hoeks known from Blade Runner, 2049, is currently in the filming of The Girl in the Spider’s Web, the sequel to The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
