MUNICH – The German minister of Foreign Affairs Sigmar Gabriel believes that the sanctions against Russia could be eased if in the east of Ukraine a cease-fire becomes effective.
Gabriel called it “not realistic” to stand on the full implementation of the peace agreement of Minsk without a part of the sanctions.
According to the German minister, there are still a number of fundamental disagreements over the Russian proposal to UN peacekeeping forces in the east of Ukraine. Still, he called it “one of the few realistic options” to the situation in the region on track.
