Dev Patel has his next role to tackle. The Lion-actor is David Copperfield playing in a film about the brainchild of Charles Dickens.

The story of David Copperfield, which came out in 1850, is based on the life of Dickens himself. The book revolves around the unhappy childhood of a boy who grows up to be a successful writer. It was Dickens’ favorite work. He would ever have said: “Like many proud parents, I also have in the depths of my heart a favourite child. And his name is David Copperfield.”

The film is The Personal History of David Copperfield called and is this month on the Dutch film market was launched. Director of the film is Veep writer Armando Iannuci, whose most recent film, The Death of Stalin, most recently in Russia was prohibited.

Dev Patel broke down in 2008 with Slumdog Millionaire. The British actor was then seen in the films The man who knew Infinity, Chappy and series The Newsroom. Last year he was nominated for an Oscar for his role in the Lion, in which he is the adult version played of the main character, Saroo, who was adopted after he lost in India.
