ROME – The Italian former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi says that he is the main architect of the end of the Cold War.
“When I was in 2001 ruled, I have said in public that I the Cold War wanted to end. That was all fifty years and caused terrible suffering,” said Berlusconi in a television interview.
The claim will many historians of surprise, because generally, it is argued that the Cold War ended with the fall of the berlin Wall in 1989 and the dismantling of the Soviet Union two years later. According to Berlusconi ended the period, however, in 2002 during a NATO summit under his leadership in Rome. “I succeeded because I am here in Rome, George Bush and Vladimir Putin, with all my powers of persuasion have convinced the Cold War to an end.”
