The Australian Nathan Haas has the second stage in the Tour of Oman, won our compatriot Greg Van Avermaet. The second stage was a treacherous ride on the road four climbs. Greg Van Avermaet had this ride with red to the point. But it was Haas of team Katusha for our compatriot in the sprint of a select group of won.

Just as in the first stage we had four escapees. Loic Chetout (Cofidis), Markel Irizar (Trek – Segafredo), Fabricio Ferrari (Caja Rural – Seguros RGA) and Danny Pate (Rally Cycling). Chetout came first on the first three climbs and also won the intermediate sprints as.

BMC chased on the penultimate climb the pace of the peloton. The advantage of the leaders dropped quickly to under a minute. At eight kilometers from the finish line showed Irizar his companions behind and he tried in vain only. With five kilometers to go, Irizar swallowed up by a peloton of about fifty riders.

Niki Terpstra attacked at four kilometers from the finish line. Loetsenko and the Team responded with in their wake a dozen riders. Eventually won by Nathan Haas in the sprint of the select few.

At ten kilometers from the finish fell Søren Kragh Andersen, one of the favourites for the stage win.
