Ron Vlaar played Monday night for the first time in nearly five months, a match, and was afterwards a happy man.

“I have enjoyed today, yes,” laughed the defender in front of the camera of Fox Sports. “It was good to get back to football, I have really had a lot of fun today,” said Vlaar after the 2-0 win of Young, AZ at Fortuna Sittard.

“It is always get used again. Certainly on this surface, which is not the best. But here you must go through, I am glad that I have an hour to play football in the legs. I’m on the right road, train all a few weeks with the group, but I’m a little older and recovery takes some more time,” said the defender, that Friday 33.

“The first team is running good, so the trainer has little reason to be things to adjust, so realistic, I am. I will have to enforce and I have competitions. No problem with that in Young AZ.”
