Bryan Coquard (Vital Concept), the first stage in the Tour of Oman won. That ride started in Nizwa and ended 162 kilometres away in a bunch sprint. Coquard was the fastest in the sprint. He beats Cavendish and Nizzolo. For the Frenchman the first win of the season.

Four escapees went there immediately after the start off. At that escapees one Belgian, Maxime Farazijn of Sport Vlaanderen – Baloise. Their maximum lead was four minutes and a half. Along the way there were two intermediary sprints. Vluchter Pierre Luc Perichon (Fortuneo – Samsic) won the intermediate sprints as and is as the first leader in the ranking for most attacking rider. After the last intermediate sprint he let himself sag. Perichon start tomorrow with a white sweater with green and red dots.

The pack seized under the guidance of Team Sunweb and Cofidis, the three remaining escapees, less than ten kilometers from the finish. In the sprint showed Bryan Coquard is the fastest and the red leader’s jersey to wear. Alexander Kristoff, record holder with seven stage wins in Oman, ending only seventh.

First Belgian Boris Vallee, he closes the top 10.
