VERSAILLES – Jean-Marie le Pen remains honorary chairman of the French populist party Front National. That has an appellate court tries the case. The party has justified his membership revoked, but his title remains, reports the newspaper Le Figaro.
The decision is the latest move in a legal joust between the founder of the party, and his daughter Marine, who is now party leader. She pulled his membership after he had spoken about the gas chambers as ‘a detail of history” of the Second world War.
