Pat Torpey, one of the founders of rock band Mr. Big, is Wednesday at the age of 64 died. That has the band Thursday night on Twitter to let us know.
“With broken hearts we tell you that our brother, friend, drummer and band member of the first hour, Pat, died from the effects of Parkinson’s disease,” writes the band. “Family, band and management ask for privacy at this difficult time.” Torpey received in 2014 to hear that he is to Parkinson’s suffering, but was until recently still with the band as a drummer and achtergrondzanger.
Torpey has toured with Tina Turner, Belinda Carlisle and Robert Plant before, in 1988 he, along with singer Eric Martin, guitarist Paul Gilbert and bassist Billy Sheehan in the band Mr. Big started. In 1992, they had a monsterhit with To Be With You. The group began in 2002 apart, but came in 2009 together again. After that comeback, Mr. Big three albums released.
