The voice of the American actress and singer Selena Gomez will be heard in ‘The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle’ of Universal Pictures, a comedy about a doctor who has the ability to be with animals to talk to. Also the British actor Tom Holland is part of the voicecast. Robert Downey Jr., Antonio Banderas and Michael Sheen have a physical role to tackle in the film. Which animal Gomez’ voice in the movie is not yet known. The American writer, Stephen Gaghan is in the regiestoel; he won the 2001 Oscar for the screenplay of ‘Traffic’.

“Doctor Dolittle” is based on a character from the children’s books by the British author Hugh Lofting, written in the 20’s of the last century. These stories take place in Victorian England, where a physicist wishes to use animals to treat, instead of people because they can talk. The books are meant for children to learn more about animals and nature.

A hollywood musical film, based from 1967 which revolved around the famous character of Lofting won Oscars for best original song and best visual effects. The most famous film adaptation is, however, the version from 1998 and the sequel in 2001, with Eddie Murphy in the lead role.

Gomez is currently in the back with the second season of the Netflix series ’13 Reasons Why’, where she as an executive producer to cooperate. They will soon also be seen in ‘A Rainy Day in New York’ by Woody Allen.
