Matt Smith has recreated an iconic role to tackle. After prince Philip in The Crown creeps he will soon be in the skin of cult leader Charles Manson for the film Charlie Says, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Manson turned to his followers in the sixties to gruesome murders. He was awarded a lifetime imprisonment. Last november died Manson at the age of 83.
In Charlie Says, the focus is on three young women who are guilty of murder. They are, in the first instance sentenced to the death penalty, but that is later converted into life imprisonment. In the film alongside Matt Smith also roles for Suki Waterhouse, Hannah Murray and Merritt Wever.
The direction is in the hands of American Psycho director Mary Harron. The pictures begin as expected next spring.
