ISTANBUL – An Algerian jeweller in Turkey detained because he tried 290 banknotes to the value of 144.200 euros to smuggle in his intestinal tract.
The man came from Algeria to Istanbul to gold to buy. Because there is a limit to the amount of money that you may take, he had 288 banknotes of 500 euro and two banknotes of 100 euro in his intestinal tract crammed.
When he was unable money again out of his body, he had to be operated on. After the doctors the rolled-up notes were removed, the man was met by the police. The money was seized and the man is returned to his homeland, reports the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet.
