With Club Brugge-turntable Ruud Molder is Wednesday night in Palace 12 of the Heysel just one well-liked in the 64th gala of the Golden Shoe, the award for the best footballer of the past year on the Belgian football fields.
If the 29-year-old Dutchman to his role delivers, picks up blue-black after José Izquierdo last year, his second Golden Shoe in a row. That was done in the past, but twice, with the duo of Paul Okon (1995) and Franky Van der Elst (1996) in the mid-nineties and the two Golden Shoes for Clubicoon Jan Ceulemans (1985 and 1986) in the mid-eighties. Even more so, for the Golden boot Izquierdo last year it was all of 2002 with Timmy Simons ago that the shiny gem again at the Jan breydel stadium moved. The Colombian international silver last summer, already his Shoe, with a transfer to the English Brighton & Hove Albion.
Ruud Shaper is on his fourth season in West-Vlaanderen busy and was with the Club already a cup winner (2015), champion (2016) and winner of the super cup (2016), and the share of the Dutch midfielder and it was not bad. Shaper is functioned, however, as a regulator on the eight and had therefore at first sight a less prominent role. Only this season under Ivan Leko and with the aanvoerdersband to the arm, he stabs it with his stats all the way to the top and who are not otherwise impressive: five days before the end of the regular league, the Jupiler Pro League nine goals and fifteen assists to his name. With a foot in 24 of a total of 61 Bruges competitiedoelpunten piloted his team to the leading position, with a still comfortable lead of eleven points on the first pursuer Charleroi – and that in spite of the Bruges vormdip of the last few weeks.
As the main challengers for Shaper focus mostly on Red Devil and Anderlechtenaar Leander Dendoncker, the Trainers team mate Hans Vanaken and to a lesser extent, Youri Tielemans. That last scored undoubtedly his second half last season, a lot of points, before a transfer to AS Monaco to enforce. Tielemans gets in one round of points and that will more likely than not be sufficient to make the top three. Dendoncker had, however, in the Astridpark, despite transfervoorstellen of West Ham and Crystal Palace. The new captain did, however, also especially last season – especially his performance in the quarter-finals of the Europa League against Manchester United were more impressive – and had this voetbaljaargang still long behind his best form, while he is in the slump, shares in a krasselend Anderlecht. It is Dendonckers last chance to win a Shoe, because there is him this summer and a transfer abroad promised.
With four awards (Golden boot, coach, goalkeeper and fans) was Club last year, the big slokop on the Golden Shoe, and that would be this time quite different. The trophy for the Coach of the Year will most likely go to the Anderlechtse champion maker René Weiler, while in the meantime to France, returned Ludovic Butelle not for the second time in a row Goalkeeper of the Year ‘ will be.
