Paul Simon has Monday his retirement was announced. The 76-year-old American singer stops touring. Next year, he still does a final series of concerts. Homeward Bound – The Farewell Tour also conducts the Netherlands. On 7 July, is Simon in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, reports concert organizer Mojo. The ticket sales starts Friday.

The Farewell Tour starts in may in Vancouver, Canada and ends in July at the BST Festival in Hyde Park in London. Simon and his band during this tour once, and a selection from his oeuvre, with hits like You Can Call Me Al and The Boy in The Bubble. Together with Art Garfunkel scored Simon also with singles like Bridge over Troubled Water and The Sound of Silence.

Simon says that the continuous travel and the loss of his wife and family him hard. The singer stops therefore. “I did always wonder what it would be to reach the point in which my career would be shut down. Now I know”, says Simon. “It feels a little disconcerting and exciting, but it is also a relief.”
